Zombies in love – “Rotting Hill”

Zombies in love. But you know it won’t last.  A live-action CGI short film from Media Design School’s Graduate Diploma of Advanced 3D Productions. The short was produced in 12 weeks and features 22 digital effects shots. I’d say they did a pretty smash up job.

E'gads Zombies!!!!

Ian Mckellan + Zombies = E’gads Zombies! This movie looks to be a precursor to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Written and produced by Matthew Butler and Tori Hart, E’gads Zombies takes place in 18th century London and stars Ian McKellen. This short films is just about wrapped up and ready to head to film festivals. They are hoping that Cannes will be the first one, but regardless it’s sure to be a hit wherever it ends up. The story looks fun, and Sir Iam Mckellen looks to deliver a promising role in this 18th century Zombedy. Check out the trailer below for some Zombie action. I can’t wait to see this whole movie!

This film is a piece of art. I found it on YouTube during a random search, and believe you me, it’s a fucking work of genius.

The Horde

Ok, so I’ve been hearing a lot of hype about the new French zombie movie “The Horde”. It seems that the French can make a pretty kickass horror flick when they put their minds to it, and it seems they got their best minds together for this one. The film revovles around a gang of criminals and a group of corrupt cops coming head to head with a zombie apocalypse. Alliances are forced as the two groups fight to survive the outbreak. Guns, blood, violence and screaming fast moving zombies. What more do you need?

From the look of the trailer, and other clips found on Allocine, this movie is not to be missed by even the most basic Zombie fan. View the trailer below.

Zombie Romance by Diablo Cody

If I am to believe all the hype on the Internet (and we all know the internet NEVER lies) it would appear that the Novel “Breathers: A Zombie’s Lament” is being turned into a feature length film. Breathers is a romance story about a newly minted zombie finding his way through his new unlife. The film is to be written by Diablo Cody of “Jennifer’s Body” fame and some other boring flicks (sorry Diablo, tough to beat out flesh eating Megan Fox).

I am not sure about a Zombie romance. Emotional attachment to the undead can only lead to disaster. And I am sure Diablo Cody will breathe some interesting life to this lifeless character (in the undead sense, not the literary sense).

Watch Zombies and Cigarettes short film

“Zombies and Cigarettes” is a short film that takes place in a mall where a bunch of infected suddenly appear and cause havoc. My first impression of this short film was not great. I liked the intensity of the infection. The Zombies were pretty cool in their fast moving way. But the film has a corniness to it that takes away from the Horror of it all. True, that may be the intent of the film, but I felt that the ending was not great and that the film left me wanting more Zombie action.

Overall, I’d give it 3/5 fresh brains. Yeah baby. Why don’t you just watch it for yourself and see.

Irish Zombies

If you click here you can check out the trailer for Bing Baileys “Portrait of a Zombie”. The movie takes place in Ireland and revolves around an American film crew filming a documentary about a family with zombie issues.

It looks and sounds like a pretty solid piece. But if I see one zombie leprechaun, I’m gonna smack someone. Check it out.

US distribution rights to Romeros 'Survival of the Dead'

According to Bloody Disgusting The Wagner/Cuban Companies’ Magnet Releasing, genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, announced today that it has acquired US rights to George A. Romero’s Survival of the Dead”.

Survival looks to be a progression of some of the themes from Land of the Dead. The zombies appear to have some sort of intelligence and are seen moving about in the trailer below. As well, the blood and gore levels seem to be far above the minimum required levels for a good Zombie flick. Overall I can’t wait to see this movie.

Here’s a trailer for you to watch! nuff said!

Zombies of Mass Destruction

Low budget comedy zombie. That’s what “Zombies of Mass Destruction” looks to be aiming for in it’s upcoming release on January 29, 2010.

The movie is centered around an Iranian-American woman, a gay couple and a family in a small conservative town that is under a zombie attack. As the infection spreads, chewing and eating mayhem occur, standard fare for any zombie movie.

From the looks of the trailer (see below), the movie appears to have a decent amount of gore, but some bad actors and a lower budget. However, I am impressed enough that I want to see it. I love a good Zombie Comedy, but I have to admit I am getting tired of zomcoms and really want a serious hardcore zombie movie to come along and kick me on my ass.

Really, if it has Zombies, I’ll watch it at least once.
